Shrimati Sundri Uttamchandani

Today is 99, birth anniversary of Late Shrimati Sundri Uttamchandani. She was born in Hyderabad Sindh.(28,September 1924-8,July 2013) She was the top most progressive lady short story writer and novelist . She had been writing continuously for last 4 decades. She had won Sahitya Akdemi Award, Maharashtra Gaurav Purskar, and Akhil Bharat Sindhi Boli. She had remained active in the movement for recognition of Sindhi language, and other literary and cultural causes of the community. Some of her short stories and novels have been translated in various languages of India. Her writings are very liked by common people especially because of her homely language complied with proverbs. She was a Radio, TV and stage artist. She had also written one act plays and poems. She was the founder President of women’s organisation, “Sindhu Nari Sabha” since 1966. She is Mother of Mrs.Asha Chand. Jai Jhulelal Jeay Sindhiyat.
