Sushila Mehtani

Today is the Date of Birth of prominent Sindhi Singer Sushila Mehtani. She was born on 31st August 1929 in Karachi. She received her education up to the intermediate level at the Dhami Bai-Basant Singh Girls High School, Karachi. After partition she temporarily moved to Bombay. In Bombay she was enrolled in the Jay Hind College from where she did her bachelor’s degree from Bombay University with a good second division. Then she moved back to Karachi. In the mid 50s, the Sindhi film industry was established in Karachi. Because of her melodious voice- Mrs. Sushilla Mahtani performed as a play-back singer. which gave her an enormous popularity. But her focus was towards Sufi music. In Karachi Master Muhammad Ibrahim was her music teacher. Radio Pakistan Hyderabad and Karachi recorded some wonderful songs in her voice. In 1966 she moved to Spain with her family, and  lived in Gran Canaria, in the Canary Islands.
